Fontaines D.C. release Dopamine Chamber today, 16 October 2026, on XL Recordings. It is the Dublin band's fifth album and the follow-up to Romance (2024), and it has 11 songs, a returning producer in James Ford, and the first guest vocal on a Fontaines record: Rosalía on "Where Is Gone?".
If you are new to them: Fontaines D.C. are a five-piece from Dublin who broke through with Dogrel in 2019. Each album since has moved further from the clipped post-punk of that debut. This one pushes hardest yet, and you can hear the band building around synthesisers, samples and heavier percussion rather than guitar lines alone.
The tracklist
- Six Shot Morning
- Marianne
- Mimesis
- Happy For You
- Demolition
- Tongue
- One Man
- Where Is Gone? (with Rosalía)
- You Miss Me
- Japan
- Intimate
Three tracks were out ahead of the album. "Marianne" was the lead single, released on 18 August 2026 with the album announcement. "Where Is Gone?", released on 12 October, is the Rosalía duet and runs a little over five minutes, the longest of the three listed lengths on the band's official release page. We wrote about it when it landed: Fontaines D.C. and Rosalía share "Where Is Gone?".
How it was made
James Ford, who also produced Romance, is behind the desk again. The band worked in London, the English countryside and Palermo, Sicily. Singer Grian Chatten recorded his vocals separately with Ford in Palermo, in a house, according to the band's account of the sessions.
Chatten has described the title as the album itself, a chamber of constant small hits, and the band have talked about themes running from artificial intelligence to environmental collapse and political violence arriving through the same feeds as memes and celebrity. Our earlier piece, what we know about the fifth album, has more on that.
Formats
The album is out digitally, on CD and cassette, and on black vinyl, blue vinyl and a deluxe gatefold double LP, with physical copies shipping from today.
What next
We will have more on the record once we have spent proper time with it. In the meantime, the band's 2027 plans are already mapped out: a North American run and a first India date, plus a spot on the Primavera Sound 2027 poster. Everything we have published on them lives on their artist page.
